October Quote of the Month
“If you work for money, you’ll never make it, but if you love what you’re doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours.”
Raymond Albert Kroc was an American businessman. He purchased the fast-food company McDonald’s in 1961 from the McDonald brothers and was its CEO from 1967 to 1973.
In the first few years of running my franchise, and struggling through the financial crash, recruiting students was tough and class numbers were low. Every child who came through the door had a pound sign on their head as I focussed on building numbers. This attitude didn’t help – I wasn’t happy in my work, desperate for success but without any joy or value of what we offer. I decided to change my outlook. I started to see every child, not with a pound sign but with a huge gift-bow – looking at each individual (parent and child) as a gift, an opportunity to engage and build a relationship with. This changed the way I worked in class and looked at my business. It became a place where everyone, including me, felt valued and could start to grow stronger – and in time the business did too!
I nominate Caryn Walton-Binns for next month’s inspirational quote!
