Our Primary mixed-age classes bring together children from two close age groups, creating a fun, dynamic, and supportive learning environment. Each activity is designed so every child can join in and progress at their own pace. These classes follow our full curriculum, blending speech, movement, improvisation, and performance skills, while giving teachers the flexibility to adapt to the group’s needs.

Meet our Principal
Hi, I’m Caryn – I’ve been with Drama Kids York for 18 years, 11 as Principal. I believe every child deserves to be nurtured as their own person, without pressure – just joy, encouragement and support. Watching them grow in confidence, creativity and performance is the best part of my job. I still teach 7 classes a week, alongside a brilliant, caring team (and help from my husband Jon backstage!). I hold a BA from Durham and LAMDA Grade VI, and was honoured to receive the CEO Award (2017), Franchisee of the Year (2022) and Inspiration Award (2024). It’s truly the best job in the world.
My favourite thing about Drama Kids is seeing our students support each other and hearing them say that in our classes they’ve found somewhere they belong.

I’m Laura, I’m a Drama Teacher in North Yorkshire and I love teaching with Drama Kids! I have been with Drama Kids for almost 8 years. I have a degree in Theatre and a Masters in Community Theatre which gave me the passion for teaching young people. I’m also a radio presenter on the local radio station and enjoy professional and amateur acting when I get the opportunity to. What I love the most about Drama Kids is that I really feel the students feel like a name and not a number, we are one big family where you can express yourself and no one will judge you – plus it’s so much fun, I get to be a big kid!

Hello, my name is Eloise. I am currently finishing my English PGCE and have been working with Drama Kids for almost two years. I have a degree in English literature and Drama and I also trained in Musical Theatre at SLP performing arts college. I love Drama Kids because the children come in to our classes and feel valued and this helps their confidence to grow! It is a place where children can explore using their imaginations in safe environment. I can’t wait for my own children to be old enough to join in!
