BIG EMOTIONS NEED SOMEWHERE TO GO…
Children can feel things VERY strongly — frustration, anger, worry, excitement, disappointment — but they don’t always know how to put those feelings into words.
Drama gives them a safe place to practise.
Through characters, role-play and improvisation, children can explore emotions without the pressure of talking directly about themselves.
And the benefits can reach far beyond the drama class.
Better able to put feelings into words instead of bottling them up
More confident expressing themselves when something matters
Greater empathy as they experience situations from another person’s point of view
Stronger communication skills to help them navigate friendships and disagreements
More self-awareness as they begin to recognise and understand different emotions
At Drama Kids, we’re not asking children to hide those BIG feelings.
We’re giving them a safe, creative way to explore them, express them and learn how to communicate them.
