Our Ethos

Our ethos is education-led. We use educational drama to help children participate, express ideas clearly, and develop the social and emotional skills that support learning and wellbeing, without pressure to perform.

BUILDING LIFE SKILLS THROUGH Educational DRAMA

Our ethos is about helping children feel able to take part. Educational drama gives children a reason to speak, listen, respond and work with others, without being put on the spot. We use consistent lesson routines and supportive teaching so children and young people can practise, make mistakes, and try again, supported by teachers who know how to bring everyone into the room.

Drama Kids Academy, we prioritise a supportive, inclusive environment where every child can participate at their own pace. There’s no pressure to “perform”, the focus is on learning, contribution and self-belief that transfers into school and life.

Our Curriculum is designed to develop:

Confidence and self-belief

Children and young people build self-belief through supported practice: trying new roles, making choices, and learning to trust their ideas over time.

Communication and social skills

Practicing clear speaking, active listening and turn-taking, children and young people learn how to contribute thoughtfully in pairs, groups and whole-class discussions.

Emotional awareness and empathy

Drama helps children and young people explore feelings safely, read social cues, and understand different perspectives, skills that support relationships and self-regulation.

Collaboration and leadership

Children and young people learn to work towards shared outcomes: taking roles, supporting others, and, as they grow, leading parts of the creative process.

Resilience and independence

Building focus, following direction, handling nerves and using feedback to improve, children and young people develop the independence to prepare, practise and try again.

Creative thinking and problem-solving

Children and young people generate ideas, adapt in the moment, and solve creative challenges; building flexible thinking they can apply in and out of the classroom.
