Youth Theatre

Our Youth Theatre classes help young people aged 11 to 18 strengthen their voice, express complex ideas, and grow into confident, thoughtful communicators, in the classroom and in everyday life.

Classes run in line with local school terms, typically around 12-week. Fees are paid per term, and students can join at any time during the year.

Try our two-week trial for £20 per student. If your child joins for the full term, we’ll deduct the trial fee from your total cost.

EDUCATIONAL DRAMA:
SHAPING IDEAS,
BUILDING SCENES,
PRESENTING WITH CLARITY.

Youth Theatre develops real-world communication through drama, with a focus on discussion, perspective, presentation craft and personal voice.

Core Skills

Students build speaking and presentation skills, from articulating viewpoints to responding under pressure. They develop critical listening, empathy and perspective-taking, alongside voice and delivery technique.

Classroom Experience

Sessions combine discussion and practical drama tasks, including script work, devising, improvisation and character exploration.

Students collaborate in ensembles, practise giving and receiving feedback, and build independence through roles and responsibilities.

Confidence in Action

Students become more comfortable contributing ideas, leading parts of the creative process, and presenting work with clarity and intention. Many carry this into school presentations, interviews and group projects.

How Learning Builds Across the Year

Youth Theatre is structured term by term, with each focus revisited through practice, feedback and reflection. Across the year, students move from developing material and making creative choices, to refining work through rehearsal and independent preparation. Below is a snapshot of what Autumn, Spring and Summer cover, and how progress is made visible term by term.

Youth Theatre IN THREE TERMS

INSIDE AUTUMN TERM

INSIDE AUTUMN TERM

Autumn develops voice and perspective as students learn to express thoughtful ideas with clarity and purpose.

Developing core skills:
Students build persuasive speaking and oracy alongside emotional awareness and thoughtful communication, practising storytelling with clarity and meaning so ideas land with impact.

In the classroom:
Sessions include monologues and solo pieces, improvisation on real-world themes, and ensemble work exploring empathy and identity, supported by creative writing, sound-based prompts, and circle dialogue to generate and refine material.

Confidence in action:
Students share original thoughts with greater assurance, take part in meaningful dialogue, and explore emotions and perspectives through devised work.

End of term:
Students begin shaping scenes, sharing ideas, and directing group work with purpose and confidence.

INSIDE SPRING TERM

INSIDE SPRING TERM

Spring deepens craft and creative ownership as students shape work with purpose and collaborate more independently.

Developing core skills:
Students develop narrative structure and message-driven work, strengthening purposeful communication and expression, while building collaboration and taking greater creative ownership as ideas become stronger pieces.

In the classroom:
Sessions include script work and genre exploration, role-play with character backstory and mood-setting, and collaborative devising with ensemble feedback. Improvisations stretch thinking, sharpen choices, and inspire new material.

Confidence in action:
Students begin leading rehearsals or directing scenes, creating and refining original material, and stepping into roles of creative leadership within the group.

End of term:
Students step into leadership, guiding peers, shaping work with intent, and speaking with conviction.

INSIDE SUMMER TERM

INSIDE SUMMER TERM

In Summer, rehearsal brings skills together as students prepare a full scripted production and take ownership of their work.

Developing core skills:
Students strengthen public speaking and confident delivery while building responsibility, reliability and resilience. They develop self-expression with stage presence and purpose, learning to communicate ideas with clarity.

In the classroom:
The group follows a full scripted production and rehearsal process, working on blocking, choreography and vocal projection. Students take creative risks in a supportive space, using reflective feedback and independent preparation to refine their work.

Confidence in action:
Students deliver more polished work, collaborate with greater maturity and focus, and present with stronger presence—whether speaking, acting or leading sections of the production.

End of term:
Students lead not just by example, but by contributing bold ideas and supporting the group.

“She absolutely lives for drama. She is having a tough time at school and not attending much at the moment due to severe anxiety, but your sessions bring out the happiest version of her.”
